Club Member and Family FAQ’s

We have recently moved from a paper-driven enrollment process to a user-friendly online platform which will allow parents and caregivers to complete an application online at our website, www.bgcsl.org. Once you have completed your Club membership application online, a login with your personal credentials will be created so you can have access to your parent portal 24/7. If you do not have access to join via computer at home, you can also complete your application at our Clubhouse located at 2200 San Leandro Blvd. San Leandro.
Once you become a member, you will login to your parent portal and simply choose an upcoming program you would like to register your child for and make payments, if applicable.
Yes. Each child who joins our Club is provided a one-year membership FREE of charge which must be renewed annually. Being a Club kid means your child(ren) has access to register for a variety of our BGCSL programs and event offerings throughout the calendar year. Although our membership is FREE, there may be costs associated with additional programs that your child might like to register for throughout the year.
Please contact our administrative office @ 510-483-5581, use the chat box on our website or email us at info@bgcsl.org.
Registration will be available at the beginning of June 2023.
We will try our best to accommodate current and former members. However, members will not be automatically placed in our middle school programs. BGCSL works in partnership with our school-site principals and district liaisons to prioritize families and waitlisted students.
BGCSL Members will receive a confirmation email post-registration if your child has been accepted or waitlisted.
First come first served, priority will be given to foster youths, students with special circumstances or district referrals, and McKinney Vento students.
Parents will be contacted by the school-site Program Director once a space becomes available. Our goal is to provide access to as many youths as possible within our safety and staff to student ratios.
There are no current fees related to our school-based expanded learning programs.
Each BGCSL school site will provide a mandatory parent/caregiver orientation. During orientation, parents will have an opportunity to meet our staff, tour the BGCSL classroom spaces, and learn about our programs, Club expectations, and code of conduct.
Yes, special accommodation will be provided.

Boys & Girls Clubs programming starts at the conclusion of school and ends at 6:00 p.m. Program start time will always align with early release/TK-Kinder schedule per school site.
Our programs include activities, experiences, and targeted initiatives that support academic success, health and wellness, character and citizenship building, athletics, and arts:
Academic Success programming provides Club members with the knowledge and skills they need to graduate from high school on time, equipped with the technical skills, tools, and resources to pursue their interests and prepare them for college, trade school, and employment
Health & Wellness programming encourages Club members to adopt healthy eating habits, practice good decision-making, develop healthy relationships, and make a lifelong commitment to physical fitness
Character & Citizenship programming focuses on cultivating good character and leadership skills and offers Club members the opportunity to give back to their community through service projects.
Athletic programming develops valuable life skills while making new friends and gaining confidence in their ability to meet challenges. At all skill levels, our youth athletics programs foster teamwork, participation, fairness, and positive social skills in a fun, safe and supportive atmosphere.
Arts programming allows all youth to access imagination and creativity to express themselves and build connections with others in their community. The Arts programs, experiences, and initiatives fall include visual arts, digital arts, performing arts, and applied arts.
Our Boys & Girls Clubs run expanded learning programming during regular school days based on a 180-school day calendar.
During non-federal holidays, our clubs will offer full-day camps during the school year. Please check our website for calendar and locations.
Governor Newsom secured additional funding to support expanded learning opportunities for CA students through Senate Bill 129, and Assembly Bill (AB) 130. The purpose of these funds is for school districts to offer afterschool enrichment programs for grades TK, kindergarten through sixth grade during afterschool hours.
