We know Club members and all youth in our communities have been removed from their typical academic environment, missed out on critical social-emotional connections, and many may have experienced heightened anxiety as a result. These significant experiences have impacted all of us, just in different ways. Our front line staff, Site Directors and Administration have been working diligently to provide quality programming based on our students ever changing needs. After assessments, feedback from our parents, partners at the San Leandro and San Lorenzo School District, Principals and teachers we are pivoting, slightly, in our programing to better address and support the academic and social emotional needs of our students.
On February 8, 2021,The Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro will install a (school) site-based program driven by each School Districts schedule and needs supporting grade levels 1st-8th .
This communication is the first of many as we introduce and prepare for a seamless transition for all of our families and students. Our Boys & Girls Club administration along with our Boys & Girls Club ASES Site Directors and School District will continue to provide communications and outreach regarding access to participate in the coming days and weeks!

We are excited to let you know that the new Marina Club facility renovation project is at 90% completed and we hope to have totally completed the project by the end of February 2021. The new facility is going to be EXTRAORDINARY and we are so looking forward to the day when we will be able to serve our children and families in person, whether at our school sites or at the new Club facility. In the meantime, we continue to encourage everyone to do their part to keep family, friends and the community safe. We WILL get through this!
I also would like to take this opportunity to thank Bob Glotch, who retired as the BGCSL Executive Director for 23 years (and 42 years with Boys & Girls Clubs), for the amazing work he has done for our youth and with our families. Bob retired at the end of November 2020 and the legacy he leaves with the Club, its youth and families, will live for generations to come. Bob helped us to reimagine our Marina Club facility into what it will be – a dedicated Teen Center and Community Hub. We are honored by Bob’s service to the San Leandro community and will do everything in our power to live up to his standard. Congratulations Bob! And many good wishes on this next phase of your life’s journey.
Bob has certainly set the bar high and I and my team hope to bring our collective years of youth development experience and knowledge to building great futures for our youth!
2021 is going to be an extraordinary year, one that sees the culmination of our vision! The best is yet to come!

THE BGCSL PLAN
A renovated building achieves two goals: helping all youth reach their potential and meeting key community needs through partnerships and an organic use of space, allowing for flexibility and responsiveness to address issues.
Without the help of our partners and supporters like you, the programs and services that we give our kids would not be possible. We rely on the financial support of the community to keep over 1200 kids engaged in safe, impactful, programs every day.
