Staying Strong Means Standing With Kids.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro‘s mission is to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling in them a sense of: competence, usefulness, belonging and power. Given the right environment, staff support, and the liberty to explore, create, discover and learn from their mistakes – all youth will grow to be confident, resourceful, respectful, and community contributors.

For every dollar invested in a Boys & Girls Clubs program, there is a rate of return of $9.60 per youth!

You can help our youth to Stay Strong by Standing with Our Kids!

How? By donating what you can to provide the essential resources and support to the most vulnerable youth in our community. Every bit counts.

500,000 Families and Friends Touched by the Youth Served
For every dollar invested in a Boys & Girls Clubs program, there is a rate of return of $9.60 per youth.

Over a lifetime, that can save the communities in which these youth live and work, millions of dollars. In the case of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro, the value added for the 2,550 youth we serve is over $34 million in future dollars in taxes paid, and savings in prison incarceration, remedial education and health costs.

As we navigate our way out of this pandemic, the Club’s primary focus is on providing the social and emotional support that youth will need as they transition back to a more normal school year. That social-emotional support permeates all we do from providing engaging programming in ACADEMICS, HEALTHY LIFESTYLES: sports, daily physical fitness, nutrition, gardening, wellness, art and music activities to CIVIC AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT with community service and leadership development projects. Our kids learn in a fun creative way, make new friends and take their first steps toward building a GREAT FUTURE!

The COVID 19 pandemic was challenging but also provided opportunities to think creatively. The health and safety of our youth has been paramount in all we do, and that was never more important than during this pandemic. While we are not out of the woods just yet, the BGCSL has moved from a virtual and hybrid program during 2020 and most of 2021 to an in-person program for 2021-2022 following all COVID safety protocols.

At this time, we are welcoming back 1,300 youth in the fall 2021 at 12 school sites, another 700+ teens at our newly opened Teen Center and Community Hub, 2200 San Leandro Boulevard, San Leandro and are planning for a robust and exciting Summer 2022 Program for another 550 youth.
