Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I moved to California at the age of eight with my parents and siblings. I have lived all over the Bay Area, finally settling in Alameda, where I currently live with my husband and two children.
I started in the after school industry when I was 19 as an instructor of a second grade class. I fell in love with afterschool and my career path was set. I worked my way up to a Site Coordinator of an ASES after school program in Alameda where I stayed for 4 years while attending college at the University of San Francisco. After the birth of my first child, I was promoted to Program Manager where I managed 8-16 afterschool programs through the bay area including Richmond, Vallejo, and Oakland. In this role, I was able to bring my knowledge and passion for youth development to many different programs and support 1000’s of youth.
With COVID and the changing of our world, I decided to return to direct service as an Assistant Principal at a charter school in Alameda. This role reminded me of my purpose. During this time, I also graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Masters in Professional Counseling.
I am excited to return to the afterschool industry and join San Leandro Boys and Girls Clubs. The mission, vision, and the pillars align with my personal mission and vision. As the new Director of Expanded Learning Programs of San Lorenzo and San Leandro, I look forward to supporting staff, developing programs, and building relationships.
During my down time, I enjoy reading, hanging out with friends and family, and rollerskating.
