On October 24th, staff, members, and their families celebrated Lights On Afterschool at our 25 Club sites. This nationwide event recognizes the vital role after-school programs play in the lives of youth, their families, and their communities. Each site showcased what Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro means to them through performances, art exhibits, and more!
Lights On Afterschool is a project led by the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all youth have access to quality and affordable after-school programs. Currently, 7.6 million children in America are left alone and unsupervised after school each day. Programs like Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro provide safe environments for kids, support working families, and inspire learning.
Every year, more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool rallies are held across the country, including at our school-based Club sites in San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Union City, and Hayward. As the leading provider of after-school programs in our community, we are committed to continuing our growth and impact!
