October 16, 2023; San Leandro, CA – The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro (BGCSL) is pleased to announce its been selected as the recipient of a $30,000 Panda Cares Foundation grant to support health and education for youth.
Panda Cares is the foundation of the Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. The mission and vision of the foundation is to empower youth to learn, lead and thrive for better lives. Their purpose is to serve the health and education needs of underserved youth and to foster the spirit of giving. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro was selected from a competitive application process and for their ability to implement and support the goals of the Panda Cares Foundation.
The grant will be used by the BGCSL for Project Learn and other academic success programs with the intention to enable all youth to become more engaged and adaptive learners. Project Learn is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America approach to support academic success by reinforcing what youth have learned during the school day and creating unique supportive learning experiences at the Club. Power Hour, the Summer Brain Gain, STEM programming, and college/career readiness are programs that will be supported by this grant. As a result of the grant, some 225 students in San Leandro will receive academic support and tutoring in science as well as programming.
The Panda Cares Foundation was established in 1999 and has been giving back to local communities through fundraising and volunteerism. They give their time and resources to support nonprofit organizations that promote youth health and education. Funds raised come from in-store donation program. Their practice is to donate 100% of the funds raised for nonprofits. To date, its raised $329 million.
