Edgar Torrico

Originally from Washington D.C., Edgar has over 19 years of experience working in youth development and expanded learning programs. He first developed a passion for youth development while working with a youth organization in his families; native Bolivia; ever since, he has been committed to empowering young people everywhere to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. 

Prior to joining the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro Edgar worked as an Outreach Counselor, Educational Coordinator and Programs Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington Youth and Family Services division where he gained vast experience and knowledge in many areas of youth programming. Since joining the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro Edgar has worn many hats and has innovated, developed and effectively directed a variety of programs for youth and families including everything from mentoring programs and parent workshops to professional development initiatives and internship opportunities for youth.

Edgar is eager and excited to continue helping build GREAT FUTURES by sharing his knowledge, experience, devotion and passion for serving youth and families in his new role as Director of Expanded Learning. He loves having the opportunity to cultivate creative learning environments where students can fall in love with learning. One of his favorite quotes is “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
