San Leandro, CA—Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro (BGCSL), in partnership with California’s Expanding Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P), will host its 5th annual Rock the Block community festival, a full day of fun, learning, and community on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
This FREE community event offers hands-on activities for all ages, providing a peek into the life of a Club kid. Come out and connect with community, get your face painted, pet a llama, take a mini music lesson, climb aboard a fire truck, race through an inflatable obstacle course, and more!
Partners include the Alameda County Fire Department, Local 55 who will be BBQing hotdogs generously donated by Aisha Knowles (Alameda County Board of Education, Area 4); Torani serving up lemonade and flavored snow cones; and Ghirardelli Chocolate Company providing their world-famous hot fudge ice cream sundaes.
This year’s celebration marks the 60th anniversary of the Clubhouse opening at its current location, and the 5th year since the completion of the Clubhouse renovation. During the event, families will also have the opportunity to tour the Clubhouse, sign up for a free Club membership, and learn about the various offerings BGCSL provides, including job opportunities and career-readiness programs for youth, cooking classes, summer camps, after-school programs and more.
