Garfield Club Community Rallies to Support Neighbors in Need

Garfield Club members and their families in San Leandro Unified School District came together in January for the Bags of Hope Community Service Project, an effort focused on supporting local residents in need.

Members decorated canvas tote bags at home with their families, adding artwork and messages of encouragement before filling the bags with donated essentials.

In total, families returned 102 Bags of Hope, which were distributed through the Club’s partnership with Bay Area Community Services (BACS) to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The project gave members a hands-on way to practice service learning while involving their families in a shared act of giving, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to building community awareness and compassion among youth.
