Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.     Desmond Tutu

What an unprecedented year this has been!  Thinking back to January of 2020 when most of the world did not know the word COVID nor the tough days ahead for all of us.  But December is the celebration of light in many cultures and religions.  It is fitting that as we have entered December, we have a renewed sense of hope, that we will as community come through these dark days of 2020 into a new and better community and country.  There are vaccines on the horizon, good people working daily to save lives and care for the sick, and individuals and families doing their part to help provide a sense of normalcy in a very different world.

In our own way, the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro has provided that hope to your children, engaging them in science, art, math, music, dance, games and so much more.  We all had to pivot last March in our jobs, in the way we operated daily, with schooling for our children and we applaud our staff, our families, and our school districts for not only transitioning to virtual learning but doing it creatively and wisely.

I want each and everyone of you to know that we are here for you.  If the burden gets too heavy sometimes, know that you can always call us and we will be here to listen and help in any way we can.

With a renewed sense of hope for our collective future, I want to wish everyone the peace of this season.  On behalf of all of us at the Club, we wish you time with your family, neighbors, friends and community and a successful beginning to a new and better year ahead in 2021.

With hope and appreciation,

Chief Executive Officer
