Summer Camp 2024

For 77 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro summer camps have been a core experience for our local youth. As time has passed, we’ve stayed true to the same principles: Lots of imagination, fun, terrific staff, a strong sense of belonging, and a safe and supportive environment where young people can thrive.

Our Summer Camp has a team of Youth Development Professionals who invest their time, talent, and experience into caring for your child. Our team will welcome your child by name and help them connect with other campers through engaging activities. Camps are closed for holidays on June 19, July 4-5.

Summer Camp 2024 FAQ

Registration for the school year opens every spring. Each school-site Program Director will notify families when it’s time to register for the following school year.

Enrollment for BGCSL’s Summer Camp 2024 will open April 15, 2024. If your child will not participate in a summer learning program at Bay Elementary School, Halkin Elementary School, or John Muir Middle School, they may enroll in one of BGCSL’s three Summer Camp locations: Jefferson Elementary School, Colonial Acres Elementary School, and BGCSL Teen Center Clubhouse.

To register for Summer Camps, your children must be BGCSL members. If they are not members yet, simply create an account in the MyClubHub Parent Portal. Membership is free. Once you’ve registered your children as members, you can select the Summer Camp of your choice within MyClubHub. If you do not have access to join via computer at home, you can also complete your application at our Clubhouse, located at 2200 San Leandro Blvd. San Leandro or call 510-483-5581.

Take a look at our registration guide for steps-by-step instructions.

For issues or support with online registration, call 510-483-5581, or email us at info@bgcsl.org.

Scholarships are available for families who meet the financial assistance requirements. Financial aid requests will be evaluated on a rolling basis.

To apply for financial assistance, select the “Pay at the Club” option in the enrollment form. Your balance will be posted to your account and the request will be evaluated. Financial Assistance confirmation will be sent within 7 days after registration completion.

If financial assistance is not approved, we can help you set up a payment arrangement. Otherwise, please submit your full payment through the “Account Billing” tab from your parent portal account. The entire fee will have to be submitted before summer camp starts.

Please note: If your child will attend a summer learning program at Bay Elementary School, Halkin Elementary School, and John Muir Middle School, participation in BGCSL’s Summer Camp is free of cost.

For further questions, please email info@bgcsl.org.

Academic Success programming aims to provide Club members with educational experiences that create a love of learning.

Summer Brain Gain comprises one-week modules with fun, themed activities for elementary and middle school students aligned with common core anchor standards.

Health & Wellness Programming encourages Club members to adopt healthy eating habits, practice good decision-making, develop healthy relationships, and make a lifelong commitment to physical fitness.

Character & Citizenship Programming focuses on cultivating good character and leadership skills and offers Club members the opportunity to give back to their community through service projects.

Athletic Programming develops valuable life skills while making new friends and gaining confidence in their ability to meet challenges. At all skill levels, our youth athletics programs foster teamwork, participation, fairness, and positive social skills in a fun, safe, and supportive atmosphere.

Yes. Our TK-K, 1st-4th grade, and 6th-7th grade middle school programs are run separately. Students are also separated by grade within the day camps. There is occasional overlap at times, however, students are generally placed in groups with peers close to their age.

This summer, BGCSL will offer Summer Camp at three summer school locations: Bay Elementary School, Halkin Elementary School, and John Muir Middle School. BGCSL staff will pick up members from their classrooms when school is released, and the program will run until 5 p.m.

Please confirm your child’s participation in a summer learning program at one of the three schools listed above prior to enrolling your child in BGCSL’s Summer Camp.

If your child will not participate in a summer learning program, they may enroll in one of BGCSL’s three Summer Camp locations: Jefferson Elementary School, Colonial Acres Elementary School, and BGCSL Teen Center Clubhouse.

Students receiving special services are welcome to register for all programs. Please let us know how to support your student best to succeed in the programs via the online program registration form. A staff member will schedule a meeting to review the members’ needs. If you need assistance, please call us at 510-483-5581.

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided every day. If your child has allergic reactions to certain foods, we ask that you please notify the staff of those allergies by indicating them on the membership application during the online registration process/paper. If your child(ren) needs more snacks than the program provides, please provide your child(ren) with additional healthy (no candy or soda) snacks.

Members must be picked up from camp by 5 p.m. If you know you will be late, please contact us immediately. After the first warning, a late fee may apply.

Parents or legal guardians of members in grades 6th-8th must complete walk-home permission form for members in middle school to be able to sign themselves out. Members in elementary grades (TK-5th) are not permitted to sign themselves out of Summer Camp.

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, the Summer Camp staff takes the safety of every child very seriously. Please review the safety policies here. If you have any additional questions about our safety policies, please contact us 510-483-5581.
