Akin has over 15 years of non-profit management experience, including roles such as Sr. Vice President of Development Operation, Vice President of Operations, and Sr. Director of Sport Training and Competition at Special Olympics Florida. Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised on the island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, youth programming has and will always be Akin’s passion. As a kid, Akin looked up to his youth mentor who taught him values, responsibility, and confidence through the Virgin Islands recreational department. That foundation anchored him in refocusing positive energy toward a 4-year college scholarship and then on to an 8-year professional basketball career. Hobbies include running, art, gaming, and sports.
